We’re Glad You’re Here
Welcome Home.
We’re really glad you came to St. Mary Magdalene Orthodox Church. We know visiting an Orthodox service for the first time can feel beautiful, moving, and maybe a little unfamiliar, and that is completely okay. Most of us know what that feels like, and we hope you felt welcomed while you were here.
What You Experienced:
Whether you joined us for Vespers, the Divine Liturgy, or another service, what you experienced is part of the ancient worship of the Christian Church, still lived and prayed today. At the heart of it all is Jesus Christ, who gathers His people, feeds them, and draws them into His life. Orthodoxy is not something new, but the same faith the Church has handed down from the beginning. We’d be very glad to have you come back, ask questions, and get to know our parish a little more.
- When we stand, we stand before God in awe.
- When we cross ourselves, we confess the Holy Trinity.
- When we sing, we join the angels in heaven.
- When we eat His Body and Blood, we are with Christ.
What Comes Next
Your first visit does not have to be your last. The Orthodox Church invites you to keep coming, keep asking questions, and take things one step at a time as you get to know the faith. There is no pressure to have everything figured out right away. Like any real relationship, coming to know Christ and His Church happens over time, through prayer, worship, and simply being present.
- Come again: The best way to learn about Orthodoxy is to be present. The more you come, the more the Liturgy begins to open to your heart.
- Join us for Coffee Hour: Stay after Liturgy and meet our parish family in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
- Ask questions: Fr. Stephen and our parish members are always glad to talk about what you saw and heard.
- Attend our Bible Study Classes: These are informal and open to anyone who wants to learn more about the faith.
- You’ve been added to our parish email list, so keep an eye on your inbox. Fr. Stephen sends out emails throughout the week with the service schedule, links to studies, parish updates, and other things he hopes will be helpful for the spiritual life of the parish.
